Rules for CLFF authors and artists

No-No's...

1. Do not post your submission publicly until after the Mod says its okay.

2. Do not post the link for the submissions until after the Mod says its okay.

3. Do not make the party pooper list three (3) times in a row or you'll be banned

(unless of course, you ask nicely to be readmitted!)

4. If you make the party pooper list you will be unsubscribed until you choose to re-subscribe to a future wave.

5. Do not flame others.

6. Do not spam the list.

Yes, yes!

1. Post your submission to the list on time

2. Post your submission in a separate email to Keikokin@gmail.com or include it as an attachment in your group post

3. Format fan fiction in 12 font Times New Roman, HTML preferred

4. Make sure your story/artwork has a summary

5. If you have a question ASK IT!

6. Put a disclaimer on your story.

7. If you don't think you're going to be able to pull off your submission in time, please let the mod know as soon as possible to save you from the dreaded Party Pooper List. (BE COURTEOUS AND AVOID THE POOP!)

Effective, April 3rd, 2008 the group did a quick motion-carried-seconded-vote and agreed there should be other categories before the Pooper List goes into affect, so the following have been added:

"Bowing out Gracefully"
(they gave notice in a timely fashion)

"Needing delay"
(cause hey it happens) and

"Early Bird Bow-out, but still a bystander"
(i.e. they notified so early its not right to stick them on the pooper list)
 

FAQ's:

What size can my artwork be?

Recently the host site has changed so this isn't the issue it once was. However, out of respect for our gracious web mistress and others I request that you make it no larger than wallpaper size.

How long does my story have to be? Is there a minimum or maximum?

For those who need to live by guide lines I'll say a minimum would be a 300 word story. ( or a triple drabble). Although longer would probably be greatly appreciated by your fellow CLEX fans. Maximum? Well, Yahoo will truncate a posting to the group. So if its over 65k, in most cases. If your story is longer than that you might want to post a private link.

In other words, there isn't really a set rule about it. But you can use those as guidelines if it makes you happy. The rest is just advice.

Can I do a story and have artwork that goes with it? How does that work?

Yes! I'll make a notation on the webpage and list them separately.

English is not my native language.

No one here will laugh at you. Please keep in mind the CLFF offers you a chance to post to a select group that all understand the challenges creating artwork and writing a story can present. This group also offers a chance for your work to be mistake picked before you go public with it. If you need help, ask for it. You're bound to find it here.

I'm not crazy about the challenge I was given can I ask for another?

Yes! As long as it's before the challenge acceptance deadline.

Can I do more than one story for a wave?

Yes, as long as that challenge topic has not already been claimed.

Can I have a grace period, even after the wave is over?

If you hand in a story for a wave after the wave has ended, your name will be removed from the party pooper list. It will be archived with the other stories.

What is the best format to post my story to the group in?

Microsoft word for windows, text files and rtf tend to have the best results in Yahoo Groups.

I can't get my story to upload, what do I do?

Email Keikokin@gmail.com and let me know. I can also be reached on Yahoo Instant Messenger as Keikokin13.

There's more than one pairing in my story is that okay?

That's fine as long as CLARK/LEX is the main pairing, however, you may want to put a warning on your header, especially if it's heterosexual.

My story has one of the characters below the age of consent. Is that okay?

Fine by me, however, please put a warning on your header as some folks are offended by this.

I have a challenge that fits the theme, but is not on the list. Can I do it?

As long as it's approved by me, the list mom. Please email me so we can discuss it. Keikokin@gmail.com

I want to post my story is that okay?

Please ask first. Really, I'd rather not since we get lurkers who just want to read the stories early. But I do understand that there are other challenges and RL issues that sometimes makes it impossible not to. However, I INSIST that it be after the acceptance/denial period for the challenges has ended.

I can't make the story deadline, what should I do?

First, DON'T PANIC! Secondly, there is a one (1) week grace period after the deadline. Last, please contact me at Keikokin@gmail.com

How long do I have to get my submission done?

Usually I try to give two (2) months from the posting of the challenges to the end of the grace period, as per a poll result. Exceptions are not made for those who join late.

I can't get a beta!

You can post and ask the list if anyone can beta. However, I'm also available. (Keikokin@gmail.com)

How can I get my name removed from the Party Pooper list?

Hand in your submission and I'll gladly remove it (lower your pooper count if necessary) and post your submission to the archive.

I don't want email from the group

Then please don't whine if you miss an important posting. It is really advisable to deal with the small amount of mail the group generates.

Is it okay if I only get the digest or special notices?

Yes, but again don't whine if you miss an important posting.

What happened to the Voting Group?

The League of CLFF Voters Yahoo Group was taken down due to lack of participation. If someone else would like to take that over, feel free and please give a link so I can tell the group members about it and link to it from this group.

I just came here to read the stories and see the art work. Is that okay?

No, this is a participation only group. Please respect the work and effort being put into these pieces and allow us a venue to have them the way we want before they are publicly viewed. Instead, bookmark the index page of the CLFF for the latest link to a CLFF Wave and thanks for your understanding!
