The air was still and cold. A feeling of damp chill pervaded the air. The birds were quiet having already sought out their shelter from the storm. Dark, heavy, woolly-like clouds covered the sky obscuring the sun completely.

Clark stared out glumly, leaning against the porch banister. Familiar arms belonging to none other than Lex, slipped around his waist. “It’s cold.” These words made Clark feel better; Lex was getting closer and closer to admitting his feelings. In the meantime, Clark wasn’t an idiot and leaned back into his hopefully-any-second-boyfriend. They watched the scene before them for a moment, just taking in the close contact and relishing it.

“What’s bothering you Clark?” Lex whispered into Clark’s ear, causing the hair to flutter and Clark to tremble. He hooked his chin on Clark’s shoulder and snuggled in causing Clark to smile. “I’m better now.” Clark admitted, hoping he wasn’t blushing. Was Lex nuzzling him?

“We really need to work on your lying skills. Then again, forget I said that.” Clark snickered. Lex pulled his arms a bit tighter, Clark had to pretend to be affected. “You need to drop the act, too.”

“Uh,” Clark turned his head, found his lips an inch away from Lex’s and fought the urge to close his eyes, lean in and take what he wanted. He found himself suddenly panting open mouthed for air while staring at Lex’s lips. Suddenly Lex pulled back, much to Clark’s disappointment. “Oh no, first things first, what were you upset about when I came out here?”

Giving in, knowing Lex wouldn’t let it go, Clark gestured out to the farm fields covered in an ever increasing blanket of white. “It’s not even Halloween Lex! And it’s snowing! This is so WRONG!” He shook his head wildly. “It even feels wrong, like I should be thinking what to buy you for Christmas, not what am I going to wear to your costume party!”

Lex chuckled. “The trees in New England are probably still at their peak Clark. Halloween is still on schedule, even if it doesn’t feel like it.”

Clark pouted and Lex turned him around to face him, holding onto to his firm forearms then taking a step into them. “Your mother was on the phone. She and your dad are staying with old Mrs. Miller until the storm passes. We’re all alone. And I know what will put you back in the mood.”

It was easy to see Clark assimilate the news as a large smile broke across his face and strong arms wrapped around Lex’s waist. “What?”

“We can go inside, get a good fire going in the fireplace, cuddle in front of it and watch a scary movie.” Lex leered at Clark, before licking his lips.

“Trick or treat?” Clark leaned forward, hopefully and eagerly wanting nothing more to end the game and kiss Lex. If they didn’t do something really, really soon he was going to have to find an excuse to be alone for a few minutes. He didn’t want to set the house on fire after all.

“You tell me,” Lex suddenly lunged forward, branding him with his lips, tongue and heat. Clark stumbled as his legs went a bit rubbery and Lex chuckled into his mouth.

When Lex pulled finally back Clark was the picture of happiness. A large, goofy, blinding smile had split his face. “I win either way.”

We, Clark, it’s we from this moment forward. Got that?” Lex’s voice was firm but the fear of uncertainty shone from his eyes.

Realizing that Lex needed some reassurance, Clark cupped his face and kissed him back gently. “Yeah, Lex I got it. I’ve got you.” He smiled again. “Life is good.”

Lex didn’t argue as they turned their backs on the snow and went inside to scare up some fun. It was time to teach Clark about the monster under the blanket.
